The SPA is an organisation by and for members. As a committee we organise a small range of activities such as courses and exhibitions but this can never cover all geographical areas and meet all members' interests.
We would like to encourage members to engage with others in their local area and organise local activities and events. There are some great examples already of potters organising for example local coffee meet-ups, group exhibitions, and communal firings.
To support this we have added a map to the website which shows where our members live.
This map is only accessible to SPA members who have logged in to the webiste, and members are only shown if they have given permission for their details to be shared. All that is shared is a postcode, an approximate location on the map, and an email address - if you want to share more then that is your decision once contact has been made.
The map can be found here in the members area. To be included on the map, or to withdraw your permission, you have to edit your profile on the website. To do so:
- Click on "My account" in the top right of the SPA website screen
- Click "edit details" in the menu on the left
- Check the box to appear in the member's list. The box above it is to create a public profile ("artists profile")
(ps if you don't have a UK postcode and would like to be shown on the map email me some coordinates and I will add you)
Note: a public facing map is also being developed. This is aimed both SPA members and the general public and shows studios and events that involve our members.
