The Shipley Art Gallery and Northumbria University invite you to the virtual Henry Rothschild Memorial Lecture with guest speaker Sandy Brown on Thursday 3 December 2020, 6.30 - 8pm.
Sandy Brown was born in Tichborne, Hampshire, and trained for 4 years in ceramics at Daisei Pottery, Japan. She has since become an influential figure in European and world ceramics. Sandy's work is wide-ranging; from mugs to large sculpture and even architecture (see Temple, above.) Her organic forms and painterly decoration have been important features of the ceramic landscape over the last 50 years. Sandy’s passion for coloured glazes enhance the joyful and celebratory nature of her work. Over 45 museums worldwide hold pieces of Sandy’s work in their collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; World Ceramic Centre, Ichon, Korea; Frankfurt Museum of Applied Arts, Germany. The Sandy Brown Museum and Gallery was opened in Appledore, Devon in June 2014. |
