CANCELLATION of SPA Craft Fair 30th October, 2021
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to CANCEL the Craft Fair on 30th October.
When considering whether to hold a craft fair, we looked into the issue of licences for trade/craft fairs and were incorrectly advised that, as a charity, we were exempt from the requirement to hold a market operators licence. Sadly, we were given incorrect advice and the exemption only exists where we are raising funds solely for the charity. This only came to light in the last few days.
We have spent the last few days trying to resolve the issue and have discussed things at length with Perth and Kinross Council and the owners of The Bield. However, due to the need for a public notification period and consultation exercise with Scottish Fire and Rescue as well as the Scottish Police Authority and local planning authorities, all of which have set time limits for the consultation periods, it is impossible to get a licence in time to hold the event this year.
Based on the information we now have, we will apply for a market operators licence to allow us to hold at least two events in 2022 but we appreciate that this is no consolation for cancelling this event.
We are all very sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause but we hope you can appreciate that our hands are tied.
With kind regards,
Fiona and all the members of the SPA Committee
