I am a retired art teacher who enjoys the process of making. In terms of my ceramic practice, I am almost entirely self-taught. At art school, I graduated with a qualification in drawing and painting and when decorating my earthenware range using slips and underglazes, the skills learned back in the mid seventies are invaluable.
I make both earthenware and stoneware.
My stoneware is almost all entirely wheel thrown and pots are meant to be functional. Mugs, platters, oil pourers, bowls etc…. I fire at 1250.
My earthenware is functional but decorated with slip, oxides and underglazes often depicting the flora and fauna of my native Wigtownshire. I use white earthenware clay and glaze with transparent gloss.
