Millport FIeld Studies Council Copyright v2

We will have the whole venue to ourselves, and are looking for volunteers to help us to make everything run smoothly and to create a pottery atmosphere.

Some helpers need to arrive early on Friday (from ca. 2pm), some need to stay a bit later on Sunday (until ca. 5pm), and others just need to provide a helping hand during the weekend itself.

This includes things like:

  • Work with the assistants to set up the three demonstration rooms and get the demonstrators ready to go.
  • Decorate and organise the large multi-purpose space that we use as our central hub. This will be used for coffee breaks, presentations, Ann Lightwood award, Friday evening music, AGM and Saturday evening ceilidh.
  • Set up the lab that will be used for members' work and Kettles Pottery Supplies.
  • Put up signs before people arrive.
  • Help with reception, hand out welcome packs, key codes, and direct people to rooms.
  • Bedding is provided but members need to make their own beds. Be on hand in case someone needs help with this.
  • Members need to strip their beds on Sunday morning. Someone needs to check the rooms before 10am.
  • All spaces we use (except bedrooms and bathrooms) will have to be restored and cleaned when we leave. We need a coordinator for each room to take "before" photos, and to oversee the final tidy up. Some spaces, that are not used on Sunday, need to be handed back before 10am on Sunday.
  • The venue provides hot water and instant coffee/tea bags. We will have a catering filter machine for better coffee. Helpers are needed to make coffees, and organise the coffee and home baking area.

You don't have to be a formal "Helper" to provide a helping hand whenever you see something that needs doing! We have more freedom in how we use the venue and this is your opportunity to help shape the weekend.

Please let us know if you can help with any of the roles above by emailing SPA.
