Michelle is a Scottish Potter and studied Ceramics and Glass at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1994 with BA(Hons) Ceramics and PGDip Ceramic Design.
She works from her studio in rural Stirlingshire where her current sculptural practice exploring a joyful expression of lifecycles connected to the natural world. She is inspired by botany and natural science and the repeating patterns that are observed on a microscopic to macro level. She likes to play with scale, hoping to capture the interplay between known and unfamiliar - recognisable yet incongruous enough to pique interest and connection.
Michelle’s work is thrown, altered hand-built and carved then multi fired to mid stoneware temperatures in an electric kiln.
