Having learned pottery initially at evening classes, I later became the teacher.
I also spent several years as assistant at Culross Pottery when it was newly established.
I enjoy working on the wheel and make a small range of thrown pottery including mugs, bowls and vases. These are simple modern forms and are glazed with much use of contrasting colours.
My larger handbuilt pots are inspired by natural settings, in which the play of light & shade, or the subtle effects of camouflage can inform the piece.
I often use agate clay elements in this work, which is later enhanced by the depth of a micro-crystalline glaze.
