I make decorative and useful stoneware pottery for the home; bud vases, ginger jars, moon jars, bowls, mugs, butter dishes, pouring bowls, brooches. I've created new glazes in soft colours of mauve corncockle and Seaglass. My most recent work focuses on the Mishima technique, using handmade stamps.
Mishima comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This is a technique of inlaying colored slip into carved lines and imprints.
I create the surface decoration by imprinting using my handmade stamps, buttons from my mum's old button tin, and found objects from around the house eg the single earring!
